Vertical tillage is a high performance technology of crop growing in Agricom Group

Soil consolation technology of plowless tillage, known as vertical tillage, is rather new in Ukraine; it came to our country from North America. However, currently, successful agrarian companies have already widely used this technology. Mainly, in comparison with the horizontal tillage, the principal of this innovative method is the ability to prevent the addition of density layers during tillage. Plants raised in a vertical tillage system exhibit higher drought resistance, reach and utilize more nutrients, and have greater standability due to healthier stalks and root systems, and, as a result, this method helps to increase yield by 8.5 t / ha.

“In Bilokurakyno cluster we use vertical tillage technology more than one season and can confidently confirm its efficiency. Of course, to implement this technology we require technical modernization of our vehicles and units, and thorough study of the best international practice at successful implementation of new methods. Based on the experience of the United States in this area, we adapted this technology taking into account our climate and soil, we developed our own unique method considering rainfall, cropping system, ground features, a potential risk of water and wind erosion, etc. Equipment is just an equipment, and it will not work without skilled staff. All our employees, including agronomists, operators and mechanics, shall master a skill. Besides, it is important for us, as Management Company, to understand the necessity of using technologies that are more efficient in agriculture.

Recently, our company has been approved to purchase one more unit for vertical tillage – Great Plains TURBO-MAX 3000TM. Usual seedbed preparation was combined with more aggressive ground leveling and weed removal, enhanced residue sizing, and unsurpassed residue coverage ” – said Stanislav Steshenko, the head of Bilokurakyno cluster of the national agro-industrial group Agricom Group.

Having a working width over 9 meters and weight more than 10 tons, TURBO-MAX brings true vertical tillage to new heights. Its advantageous are: hydraulic weight transfer, adjustable gang angle, two coulter gangs to remove weed. Exclusive maintenance-free bearings offer an opportunity to consider Turbo-Max as a cost effective and highly productive tool, which helps to reduce fuel and maintenance cost. Taking into account trackers of global positioning system with analytical decision support system of the company, Turbo-Max became a unique and, at the same time, an integral part in innovative vehicle park of agricultural units of the national agro-industrial group Agricom Group.

Successfully proven methods of tillage implemented by the national agro-industrial group Agricom Group is the result of a system-based strategy to improve efficiency within the enterprises focused on Crop growing. These methods help to increase the quality and quantity indexes of farming, as well as they help to reduce the negative impact on the land and, as a result, they regularly increase yields.
